What’s one thing you wish you knew when you first started your career?
To take web design projects much more slowly – from design direction (opening “hero”), through subpage(s) development, to mobile responsiveness.
What has been the biggest change in office culture since you started your career?
Since the pandemic, office culture (as it was realized in the traditional sense) is much more scarce. In my industry, designers/business owners/marketing specialists have realized that it is absolutely not imperative to work in-person in order to achieve marketing/web design/SEO results for clients. This is largely why most web design and marketing agencies have positioned themselves as being able to serve a national audience!
What’s one of the greatest challenges your industry is facing?
Constantly changing algorithms on Google (and other search consoles). As marketing consultants, we are ubiquitously (and creatively) solving problems – in order to help push our clients higher on search maps; positioning their brands effectively for success (translating – hopefully – into business development, revenue growth, and financial sustainability).
As you know, we’re celebrating 30 years at The Communicator Awards. What was your favorite music from the 90s?
Third Eye Blind & New Found Glory
And what was your favorite movie from the 90s?
Jumanji!
What are you looking for in entries this season?
I’m looking for an eye-catching, engaging, and high-resolution opening “hero” with a noticeable “WOW!” factor – high-res videos certainly help bring out a website’s brand identity.
When you enter your work into The Communicator Awards, it lands in front of accomplished jurors like Bruce. There’s a limited time left to complete your entries before the Grace Period Deadline on Friday, March 29th, 2024.
