ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Overview

The Communicator Awards are open to all companies, agencies, organizations or individuals involved in producing marketing, communications and creative projects for any audience.

  • To be eligible for a Communicator Award, entries must have been produced after January 1, 2023.
  • Work must be provided in English or with an English language translation.
  • All work must be submitted in an acceptable format. See more details below.
  • Additional entry requirements vary depending on whether you are submitting a single creative piece, a campaign/series, or competing for Marketing Effectiveness.

 

Requirements for Individual Creative Projects

Individual projects are to be judged of their own merit, with no additional explanation or context. Work must be available as a single element in one of the following formats: a URL, a digital file, or a physical item. See more on acceptable formats below.

Note for work in a “redesign” category: you must frame the work in a single format. You cannot submit separate URLs or files, but you may create a single landing page or document to visualize the “before” and “after” of the redesign.

 

Requirements for Campaigns or Series

For campaigns or series across all entry types, your work must be available as 2-6 elements, which can be submitted as discrete URLs, combined into a single digital file, or as a set of physical items. See more on acceptable formats below. As with individual creative projects, the work is to be judged of its own merit, with no additional explanation or context.

 

Requirements for Marketing Effectiveness

For entries submitted in the Marketing Effectiveness media type, you are given the opportunity to provide additional information to detail the effectiveness of your marketing efforts. When submitting your entry for consideration, we ask that you combine your original creative element(s) along with a summary in a single URL, digital file, or physical item. See more on acceptable formats below.

The Marketing Effectiveness Summary should include the following information in under 1000 words:

  • Background Information, describing the project and reasons for marketing efforts
  • Target Audience, including the demographic and geographic information
  • Objectives, as the specific goals and expectations for your campaign
  • Challenges, articulating issues that were overcome for this project)
  • Methods and Strategies, showing the ways in which you achieved your outcome, including creative and media communication strategies
  • Results, demonstrating the overall outcome and evidence that you achieved your objectives and overcame challenges

 

Acceptable Formats to Submit Work

Across all media and work types, elements must be accessible by the judges, meeting the following criteria:

  • URLs must be open to the public OR have the username & password provided during the entry process
  • Digital files must be under 300mb and in .mov, .mp4, .mpg, .flv, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .pdf, .doc, .docx, or .mp3 format
  • Physical items must be mailed to our awards processing center at the address listed below. Note that we recommend submitting work as URLs or digital files unless the physical nature of the creative piece is a key component of your project.

Regardless of how many creative elements are being judged, we can only accept one type of format. When submitting multiple elements for campaigns, series, or marketing effectiveness, you must combine all elements to be represented in a series of URLs (limit of 5), or a single digital file, or a single package to be mailed.
